PacketHop to Speak on "Katrina: Interoperational Challenges" Panel
Chief Technology Officer Ambatipudi R. Sastry Speaking at IWCE 2006
IWCE 2006, LAS VEGAS - May 16, 2006 - PacketHop, Inc., the leader in instant, mobile multimedia communications software, today announced that Chief Technology Officer Ambatipudi R. Sastry will speak at the 2006 International Wireless Communications Expo (IWCE) at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Sastry is speaking on a panel, titled "Katrina: Interoperational Challenges," which will be held on Wednesday, May 17 from 3:00 to 4:15 p.m. PDT. The panel will be moderated by Glenn Bischoff, editor-in-chief of Mobile Radio Technology, and provide an overview of interoperable, wireless communications systems and public safety lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina. Sastry will highlight the benefits of deploying software-based mobile mesh-enabled multimedia communications applications that allow public safety departments to communicate more efficiently with or without infrastructure anytime, anywhere. Dr. Ambatipudi R. Sastry is a 35-year technology expert and veteran researcher, who specializes in the development and commercialization of telecommunications and network management technologies. He is responsible for PacketHop's strategic technical directions relevant to mobile mesh communications solutions. Previously, at SRI International from 1995-2002, Sastry served as program director of the Telecommunications and Distributed Processing Group, where he supervised the development, implementation and testing of mobile ad hoc network protocols within that group with support from various government agencies. Sastry also served in key research and development and management positions with the Rockwell International Science Center from 1982-1995 and the Space Applications Center of the Indian Space Research Organization from 1977-1980 and held visiting academic positions at the University of Minnesota, 1980-1982, and University of Maryland, 1974-1977. Sastry received his master's and doctorate degrees in electrical communications engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
