PacketHop Announces Reseller Relationship with IBAX to Deliver Mobile-mesh Solutions in Italy
IBAX to deliver broadband wireless solutions to the public safety and government applications markets
REDWOOD CITY, CA - March 7, 2007 - PacketHop, Inc., the leader in instant broadband mobile-mesh networking communications systems, today announced that it has signed an exclusive reseller agreement with IBAX to sell and deliver PacketHop-based solutions in the Italian market. IBAX, based near Milan, is established as a leading provider of WiFi- and WiMAX-based broadband solutions throughout Italy.
This announcement marks the first availability of PacketHop's solutions into the European market. The company is currently exploring other business opportunities throughout Europe. PacketHop is also developing relationships with leading VARs and system integrators that can combine their unique expertise with PacketHop's technology to deliver value-added solutions to the market.
Ugo de Fusco, chief executive officer of IBAX, commented, "Mobile-mesh communications will benefit both government and public safety organizations within Italy by providing secure, broadband communication of multimedia content, such as video. Both public and private sector organizations will generate immediate business value as the value of peer-to-peer wireless communications continue to grow."
Evelien Wiggers, Research manager at IDC, commented, "The European market for broadband wireless applications is growing rapidly. Fast, efficient WiFi communications systems are becoming increasingly important to the public safety market because they enable first responders and mobile workers to communicate and exchange information in real-time via multimedia applications, such as real-time multicast video for surveillance, and GPS-enabled resource tracking."
IBAX is a pioneer in designing, deploying and operating wireless broadband networks in Italy. The company has installed the largest number of pre-WiMAX systems in Italy - serving rural municipalities, large system integrators, defense contractors and local carriers. By delivering complete broadband communications solutions that combine the benefits of WiFi and WiMAX technologies, along with multimedia applications, IBAX is uniquely qualified to meet the needs of the Italian market.
PacketHop provides a software-based, infrastructure-optional mobile-mesh networking communications system. The PacketHop Communications System™ operates on industry standard mobile devices without requiring connectivity to fixed infrastructure. PacketHop provides users with an interoperable communications system that operates anytime, anywhere, at a fraction of the cost of infrastructure-based communications systems. The system also connects to fixed 802.11, cellular or WiMAX networks for backhaul connectivity to the Internet when infrastructure is available.
"PacketHop is very excited to be working with IBAX to deliver solutions into the Italian market," said Michael Howse, president and chief executive officer of PacketHop. "IBAX's unique expertise in delivering advanced broadband wireless communications, coupled with PacketHop's mobile-mesh and server-less applications technologies, will enable new forms of communications to a variety of Italian government and public safety organizations."
