Incident-area communications

PacketHop provides incident-area communications in the form of ad hoc networks for backhaul. We provide police communications and mobile ad hoc networks for EMS, fire, and tactical personnel as well. We know police communication has different needs than fire communication, but we also know that sometimes the different agencies need to be able to share a mobile ad hoc network between them.

Police and fire communications

Fire communication and police communication systems will need to be in use during utilities failures, natural disasters, terrorist attacks, traffic accidents and other situations where lives are on the line. Decisions matter - and the information you need to make those decisions can be securely shared through PacketHop's peer-to-peer networks. Make sure your tactical team and officers have the GPS positioning they need via server-less applications to allow information to be shared securely in real time. A DynaMesh peer-to-peer network is secure in 4.9 Ghz band for your police communication system. We'll give you public safety bands over a portable ad hoc network with our wireless mesh technology.

The PacketHop Communications System

The PacketHop Communications System delivers instant, mobile broadband communications for public safety, municipal services agencies and video surveillance for public and private security. With PacketHop, customers aren't tied to the limitations of physical infrastructure or servers. Instead, PacketHop enables a variety of users to share video and other multimedia information using secure, mobile-mesh networks which connect on-the-fly, communicate directly from user-to-user, allow shared applications, and securely access the Internet.

The PacketHop Communications System provides a complete set of components for enabling multimedia communications, video surveillance and incident command:

  • Gain access to existing CCTV or digital video systems to provide first responders and private security agencies with access to video from inside buildings or vehicles to better assess a scene and increase the safety of officers and the public.
  • Quickly install video surveillance systems in areas where network wiring is not feasible or cost effective.
  • The ability to deploy using laptops, PacketHop Mobile Routers or Mesh Exchange components for a variety of use cases including inside vehicles or buildings or to establish video perimeters for outdoor security.
  • Broadband multimedia applications including multicast video, GPS resource tracking, whiteboarding and instant messaging.
  • Instantly deploy peer-to-peer networks at the scene of an incident without requiring infrastructure. Optionally access infrastructure, when available, for backhaul and secure connectivity to the Internet.
  • Support for the 4.9 GHz licensed public safety band and 802.11 a/b/g unlicensed spectrums.
  • Optional simultaneous access to cellular data networks to provide increased coverage and Internet and backhaul connectively using an external USB device.
  • All PacketHop nodes provide access to the mesh for sharing video and other information.
