Product Specifications
DynaMesh
Network
- DynaMesh is included in the SMC, Aware Applications Suite, Mobile Router and Mesh Exchange Support for standard IEEE 802.11a/b/g and 4.9 GHz spectrum.
- Optimized for transmission over faster WiFi and 4.9 GHz local broadband connections as well as lower bandwidth cellular or satellite backhaul networks. Adapts to network and network conditions.
- Optimize between multicast and unicast to conserve bandwidth.
- Multicast: send a video, IM to multiple people.
Video Support
- Receives/transmits MPEG-4 encoded data in UDP packets.
- Video en/de-coding from MPEG-4 to mesh and back.
Mapping Support
- Google Earth integration.
- Mapping is also provided in the Aware Applications Suite.
Performance Criteria
- Range: up to 3000 ft (1 km) line of sight in the 4.9 GHz band using approved hardware. Range results may vary based on spectrum and other conditions.
- Throughput: Traffic shaping limits throughput to 1MB per second per individual client for Aware applications to optimize performance.
- Multi-hops: No practical limit on the number of hops - latency will increase with multiple hops but can be decreased with increased CPU. 1 ms per hop latency. Latency stabilizes at three nodes, providing consistent performance.
Systems Management Center (SMC)
The Systems Management Center is the core of each PacketHop Communications System deployment. Users, once configured, do not need to have access to the SMC for networking or using the applications. The SMC provides administrative tasks such as:
- Security Policy Management: provides authentication and authorization of users, equipping them with the credentials needed to participate in the PacketHop-enabled autonomous mobile-mesh network.
- IT Management and Administration: provides secure account management, provisioning of client devices, logging, configuration setting, maintenance and other IT management tasks.
- Multi-Network Gateway: serves as a VPN routing gateway to connect and merge two or more mesh networks - enabling interoperability and improving network performance and survivability.
- Internet Gateway: When infrastructure is available, be it via cellular, satellite or WiFi networks, the SMC's firewall and secure tunneling provide users with secure access to the Internet.
- Web-based administration.
- Supports up to 500 users per SMC server.
Aware Applications Suite
The PacketHop Aware Applications Suite, a component of the PacketHop Communications System, includes four integrated applications, designed specifically for public safety use and is optimized to work without a network connection or server. Aware includes real-time multicast video, interactive map information with GPS integration, instant messaging, and whiteboarding. Utilizing DynaMesh software, Aware enables a computer to communicate directly with other PacketHop Communications System components.
Aware Applications Suite
- Includes DynaMesh software.
Real-time Multicast Video:
- Selectively multicast and viewed individually or concurrently.
- View up to four high quality video streams over high bandwidth networks at the same time.
- View one video stream over cellular networks for remote personnel.
- Video streams only sent on viewer request to maximize bandwidth. Otherwise, video thumbnails are sent.
Mapping & GPS Location Tracking:
- Integrate with any standard maps and any Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment.
- High-resolution maps with real-time resource location tracking show who is at a scene and where they are.
- Use maps without GPS for location tracking for whiteboarding, simple viewing and self-reported locations.
White Boarding:
- Whiteboard on video screens, maps or blank screens.
- Share tactical information graphically (e.g. annotate a map, video frame or other image) and collaborate on a course of action.
Multimedia Instant Messaging (IM):
- Insert standard public safety shortcuts.
- Message one or multiple people.
- Configure groups on-the-fly or preset.
- Share files in a variety of formats - such as pictures, video frames, diagrams or reports.
Integration with CCTV or other networks
- Integrates with CCTV and IP video systems providing the ability to securely export video outside of a building to public safety and/or private security.
PacketHop Mobile Router Specifications
The PacketHop Mobile Router is ideally suited for in-vehicle applications such as patrol cars, fire and EMS vehicles, trains and buses where laptop computers are not feasible or where laptops do not have a sufficient number of connection slots for radios, cameras, etc. It provides mesh connectivity that is optimized for mobile use and video streaming. The PacketHop Mobile Router provides connectivity over multiple networks to any device in a vehicle. It can be used to deliver intelligent applications that provide video surveillance, Internet access or provide connectivity to devices in the area. PacketHop DynaMesh software is included in the mobile router.
