PacketHop 802.11s Mesh Datasheet
The PacketHop 802.11s Mesh implements the draft IEEE 802.11s standard. The draft is projected to be finalized by the end of 2009. With its heritage as an innovator in mesh communications and as a member of 802.11s standards body, PacketHop is in a unique position to deliver a fully functional product today for OEM customers who need wireless mesh capability today.
The PacketHop Mesh is available as a standalone embeddable firmware module or as a part of a fully functional 802.11 product such as an Access Point (AP) or a client (STA). It is easily integrated into existing systems that require wireless mesh network functionality. It supports and seamlessly co-exists with legacy 802.11 networks and installations.

Use cases supported by PacketHop mesh include:
Enterprise networks deployed in office, factory floor, and warehouse environments to support line of business applications.
Home networks used for entertainment, games, Internet access.
Metropolitan area networks implementing backhaul and access capability for residential and business subscribers.
Industrial networks used for surveillance, public safety and security, sensors, process control, telematics, and industrial applications such as robotics.
Legacy support is available to support connectivity to the mesh of standard 802.11 stations (STA) or mesh connecting to standard 802.11 access points (APs) as a station.
Product Highlights:
Core Services include the functionality needed to implement the basic Mesh Point. These are the Hybrid Wireless Mesh Protocol (HWMP), peer link discovery and state management, and interworking.
Security includes enterprise level authentication with 802.1x EAP with RADIUS support for interoperability with standard AAA servers.
Performance Optimization services are provided for enhancing service for specific use cases. Congestion control and synchronization enables operation of high throughput applications such as video and voice. Channel agility and transmit power control improve reliability in the presence of interfering sources (such as radar) and reduce interference with existing users on the same channel. The power save operation conserves battery life for portable devices.
Management applications enable configuration, monitoring, control of the mesh operation. These applications can be stand-alone or integrated with other applications. Various flavors can be supported: CLI, Web, and SNMP.
