Incident-area communications

PacketHop provides incident-area communications in the form of ad hoc networks for backhaul. We provide police communications and mobile ad hoc networks for EMS, fire, and tactical personnel as well. We know police communication has different needs than fire communication, but we also know that sometimes the different agencies need to be able to share a mobile ad hoc network between them.

Police and fire communications

Fire communication and police communication systems will need to be in use during utilities failures, natural disasters, terrorist attacks, traffic accidents and other situations where lives are on the line. Decisions matter - and the information you need to make those decisions can be securely shared through PacketHop's peer-to-peer networks. Make sure your tactical team and officers have the GPS positioning they need via server-less applications to allow information to be shared securely in real time. A DynaMesh peer-to-peer network is secure in 4.9 Ghz band for your police communication system. We'll give you public safety bands over a portable ad hoc network with our wireless mesh technology.

802.11 Mesh Networks

Just 20 years ago, people could only share information when connected by a physical wire. Today, the rapid adoption of IP-based communication -coupled with the ubiquity of wireless infrastructure- is changing the way people, businesses and government organizations share information.

Mesh networks are the next step in wireless communications and PacketHop is the leading provider of advanced 802.11 and pre-802.11s embedded mesh technology.

The PacketHop 802.11s Mesh implements the draft IEEE 802.11s standard. With our heritage as an innovator in mesh communications and as a member of 802.11s standards body, PacketHop is in a unique position to deliver a fully functional product for OEM customers who need wireless mesh capability today. The PacketHop Mesh is available as a standalone embeddable firmware module or as a part of a fully functional 802.11 product such as an Access Point (AP) or a client (STA). It is easily integrated into existing systems that require wireless mesh network functionality. It supports and seamlessly co-exists with legacy 802.11 networks and installations.

Use cases supported by PacketHop mesh include:

Enterprise networks deployed in office, factory floor, and warehouse environments to support line of business applications.

Home networks used for entertainment, games, Internet access.

Metropolitan area networks implementing backhaul and access capability for residential and business subscribers.

Industrial networks used for surveillance, public safety and security, sensors, process control, telematics, and industrial applications such as robotics.
